with your hosts Mark Jacobson and Noreen Malone
During the 1990’s and early 2000’s, I hosted (along with a number of collaborators) a reading series for journalists at the KGB Bar in the East Village. The idea then was that journalists didn’t get to read their work much in congenial settings like all those precious fiction writers. The series was a success, for the most part. A dozen years later the entire business, the way the “news” is reported and received is basically been turned on its head. So this seems a good time to revive the series, to establish a bit of continuity between younger and older practitioners of the form.
So I’m inviting you to the inaugural meeting of the new series, to begin this Tuesday, March 3, at the same old place, the KGB Bar at 85 e. 4 Street between Second Ave and Bowery. Starts at 7 pm, runs til 9. Hosted by Noreen Malone, features editor of New York Magazine and myself. Readers will be Allison P. Davis of The Cut, Leon Neyfakh of Slow Burn and Fiasco podcasts, and myself. Also featured will be a performance by Ray King, the world’s greatest bucket drummer and celebrity updates on the Super Tuesday results. Pizza available for early arrivals.
