Our lineup this month:

Erin Moon White grew up in a suburb of Detroit, and has an MFA in Poetry from Columbia University. After completing her BA in English Language & Literature at the University of Michigan, she moved to Seattle, then Brooklyn, and now lives in Boston with her husband, son, and cats. Her writing has appeared in Blunderbuss, Shampoo, Death Hums, and Mistress, where she was also a guest editor for poetry. In 2017, she was honorably mentioned in the Glimmer Train New Writers Awards. She’s currently working on a novel that is mainly about her self. She also works in nonprofit development.

David Glekel is a writer from New York City with an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University. He was a finalist in Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers, and recently finished his first novel, The Erasers, about a group of expats and Japanese who start a dating business that draw the attention of a new religion with radical beliefs.

Lynne Kassabian trained as an actor in London before earning her MFA in Fiction from Columbia University. Her work has appeared in Ararat, The Literary Review, Quarto, Sporadic, and other publications. She taught English and creative writing for many years. She also worked as an editor, had a story adapted for the stage, and was a finalist for Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers. Lynne lives with her family along the Hudson River in New York, where she is completing Maestros, a collection of linked stories about second chances.

What is Columbia Selects? The first Thursday of each month the Columbia MFA program hosts a reading series featuring Writing Program alumni. These fresh talents are finished with or near to finished with their first books, but do not yet have a book contract and/or an agent. In recent years, many of our featured writers have achieved critical and commercial success. This is your chance to glimpse who you'll be reading in 2021!

Columbia Selects is curated by Bryan VanDyke and Emily Austin.

Come for the talent. Stay for the camaraderie and cocktails.
