Valerie Laken has lived and work in Russia, Poland and the Czech Republic. Her work has appeared in Ploughshares, the Missouri Review, and has received a Pushcart Prize, the Missouri Review Editors’ Prize, and two Hopwood Awards . The author of the award-winning novel Dream House. She teaches at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She reads from her collection: Separate Kingdoms.
Cat Valente first major release, The Orphan’s Tales, was released in the fall of 2006 when Cat was twenty-seven.Volume I, In the Night Garden, went on to win the James Tiptree Jr. Award and was nominated for the World Fantasy Award. The series as a whole won the Mythopoeic Award for adult literature in 2008. Her most recent novel, Palimpsest, has been nominated for the Hugo Award and is a Locust Award finalist.
