Uphook Press specializes in work by poets and spoken word artists who love both the ink and the mike. you say. say. is the first of an annual anthology taken from open submission.

Samantha Barrow rides her motorcycle around the U.S. putting poetry where it doesn’t belong. She is the author of GRIT and tender membrane (Plan B Press) and Jelly (Tiger / Monkey Alliance).

Thomas Fucaloro was born in Brooklyn, grew up in Staten Island, and now resides in Harlem. Of his poetry habit, Thomas says, “This is what I want to do with my life. Mom and Dad are not happy.”

Christian Georgescu was born in Bucharest, Romania, and raised in New York City where he has appeared on stage and in film, most recently in Pussyfoot.

Thomas Gibney reads, writes, eats, sleeps, breathes, dreams, loves, doubts, regrets, smiles, listens, waits, decants, invokes, belies, combusts. He currently lives in Tennessee.

Robert Harris poems have been published in journals including Barrow Street, Crested Myna, and Spillway.

Sarah Sarai’s first poetry collection, The Future is Happy, was published in 2009 by BlazeVOX Press.

Geoffrey Jason Kagan Trenchard has performed poetry on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, at universities throughout the United States, and in numerous detention centers. He is a mentor for Urban Word NYC and runs a workshop in the foster care center at Bellevue.

Joanna Valente is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and Literature from SUNY Purchase College.
