Shannon Cain’s debut collection of short stories, The Necessity of Certain Behaviors (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2011) was awarded the Drue Heinz Literature Prize. Her stories have been awarded the Pushcart Prize, the O. Henry Prize, and a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. She is a private writing coach and workshop facilitator, and has taught fiction writing at the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and at the University of Leipzig as the Picador Guest Professor of Literature. She is the fiction editor for Kore Press, an independent publisher of literature by women. She is working on a novel set in Tucson.
