Drug Couple is an anti-capitalist, pro-miscegenation musical duo comprised of Bex and Miles B. A. Robinson (MBAR). The pair met in November 2015, when MBAR was producing a record for Bex’s previous band, Rosebug, at “The CRC”: the Brooklyn studio where he has recorded bands like Chairlift, MGMT, and Public Access Television.

They fell in love in with making music together. They also fell in love. Since then, they’ve been microdosing LSD, taking selfies, and recording a collection of songs about finding someone special to share the end of the world with—called Choose Your Own Apocalypse. Their influences include Yo La Tengo, Dinosaur Jr., and the musical partnership of Mutt Lange and Shania Twain.

Reni Lane Jablonsky returns to RED DOOR SESSIONS for a special solo performance, the latest incarnation in a career that includes fronting retro-pop duo FEVER HIGH with Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, Ivy) and Anna Nordeen and playing bass in Brooklyn garage-pop trio, Shining Mirrors. At her core, Reni is a compelling performer (her multi-instrumental skills have supported the likes of Duncan Sheik and Joseph Arthur) and a formidable songwriter who has collaborated with seasoned pros like Howie Day and Linda Perry (Adele, Alicia Keys, Courtney Love). But what most people remember about Reni is her unique, haunting voice. At 19, while attending Columbia University’s creative writing program, she was discovered by Perry who released her major label debut Ready on Universal Motown. The LP’s breakout track Place For Us was featured on VH1, The L Word, and KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. In the years since Ready, Reni has continued to expand her creative arsenal. She’s recently opened for The XX, Grace Potter, and She & Him, and had various creative collaborations featured in Paste, NPR, Sundance Film Festival and SXSW Interactive.
