ZEV TORRES
Zev Torres’s poetry emerges from the interchange between the volitional and the reflexive, and explores a wide breadth of themes: from the abstract to the concrete, and the political to the personal. For Zev, writing and reciting the same poem are wholly different experiences. In his spoken word performances Zev aims to convey the sense of adventure that moved him to compose in the first place by placing his poetry in new and unexpected contexts, while engaging the listener in the creative process.

Zev Torres is work has appeared in numerous print and on-line publications including, most recently, “Suitcase of Chrysanthemums” from Great Weather for Media, Three Rooms Press’ Journal of Contemporary Dada Writing and Art, “Maintenant 12” and the August, 2018 issue of “Pomona Valley Review”. Since 2008 Zev has hosted Make Music New York’s annual Spoken Word Extravaganza, and in 2010 founded the Skewered Syntax Poetry Crawls.
