The 2009 Fall Term FACULTY READING

In the fourth event presented by NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies and literary venue KGB Bar, three NYU-SCPS writing instructors working and teaching in a variety of genres will read from their work:

SONYA CHUNG is the author of the novel Long for This World, forthcoming from Scribner’s in March 2010.  A Pushcart Prize nominee, she is a recipient of the Charles Johnson Fiction Award and the Bronx Council on the Arts Writers’ Fellowship and Residency.  Sonya’s short fiction and essays have appeared in the Threepenny Review, the Sonora Review, BOMB magazine, and other publications.  She is teaching “Can I Really Write” and “True Fiction” at SCPS this term.

SARA GOUDARZI’s non-fiction and poetry have appeared in National Geographic News, the Christian Science Monitor, the Adirondack Review, Drunken Boat, and other publications, and on CNN.com.  Sara is the founder and co-editor of /One/, a journal of arts and literature, and her CD, Oryan, Selected poems of Baba Taher, was released earlier this year.  She will be teaching “Science in Literary Fiction” at SCPS during the Spring 2010 semester.

DANIEL MELTZER has won the O. Henry and Pushcart prizes for his writing.  His stories, memoirs, essays, and poems have been published in the Gettysburg Review, Confrontation, Other Voices, Fourth Genre, the Northeast Review, Exquisite Corpse, Maisonneuve, and other magazines and journals.  In addition, more than five hundred of Daniel’s columns and essays have been published in the Baltimore Sun, the LA Times, the Chicago Tribune, Newsday, The Villager, and other newspapers.  His plays are licensed by Samuel French and have been performed across the United States as well as in Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.  Daniel teaches “Writing Opinion Columns and Editorials” at SCPS.
