NYU Emerging Writers Series, featuring Mark Doty

Mark Doty, the only American poet to have won Great Britain’s T. S. Eliot Prize, is the author of six books of poems. His most recent collection, Fire to Fire: New and Selected Poems, won the National Book Award for 2008.

Sam Beebe is a fiction writer currently in the MFA program at NYU.  He wears a size 12 shoe and enjoys avocado.  He lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and is a member of the literary basketball team, Mrs. Balloway. 

Katherine Carlson originally hails from Lansing, Michigan, but she has called New York home for the last eight years. She moved to the city to become a high-powered editor but eventually quit to become a self-absorbed author. She is a first-year student in the fiction program at New York University.

Angelo Nikolopoulos is a second-year student at NYU’s creative writing program, where he also serves as the managing editor for Washington Square Review. He also hosts The White Swallow Reading Series, which features queer writers in Manhattan. 

Ekoko Omadeke is a 2nd year poetry student at NYU. She also hosts the Southern Writers Reading Series at Happy Ending Lounge and is a Cave Canem fellow.
