“The Servants’ Quarters is Lynn Freed’s best novel yet. Cressida, a young girls who watches those around her pathc up their wounds from the war and carry on with the weight of pretense, is as observant and as wickedly truthful as any Jane Austen character.” Amy Tan

Vestal McIntyre is the author of the short story collection YOU ARE NOT THE ONE which won a 2006 Lambda Literary Award and was named a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice.  He is the recipient of fiction fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts.  He now lives in London.  LAKE OVERTURN is his first novel.

LAKE OVERTURN is such a good novel I read it as slowly as I could to make it last and hated to see it end.  Every character in it is so real, complex, and interesting, the scope of the novel at once so wide and so deep, the themes and ideas so thoroughly embodied by the story, I felt as if I were reading a modern-day MIDDLEMARCH.

- Kate Christensen, PEN/Faulkner Award-winning author of THE GREAT MAN

Matthew Aaron Goodman earned a BA from Brandeis University and an MFA from Emerson College . He lives in Brooklyn NY, he reads from his novel “Hold Love Stong”
