KGB: Joyland Presents…Montreal vs. New York

Emily Schultz is the co-founder of Joyland Magazine. Schultz’s novel, The Blondes, released in the U.S. with St. Martin’s Press and Picador, in France with Editions Asphalte, and in Canada with Doubleday. It was named a Best Book of 2015 by NPR and Kirkus. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Slate, Evergreen Review, Elle, and Vice. She lives in Brooklyn.

Virginia Konchan is the author of a book of poetry, The End of Spectacle (Carnegie Mellon, 2018), a collection of short stories, Anatomical Gift (Noctuary Press, 2017), and two chapbooks, including That Tree is Mine (dancing girl press, 2017).  Her poetry has appeared in The New Yorker, The New Republic, Boston Review, and elsewhere.  Co-founder of Matter, a journal of poetry and political commentary, she teaches at Marist College in upstate New York.

Lesley Trites is the author of A Three-Tiered Pastel Dream (Vehicule Press, 2017). Her work has appeared in carte blanche, Tupelo Quarterly, The Los Angeles Review of Books, and Maisonneuve. She lives in Montreal.

Nicholas Mancusi’s features, interviews, and criticism have appeared in the New York Times Book Review, Washington Post, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, NPR, BOMB, and many other publications. He is finishing his first novel.
