True Story: Nonfiction at KGB - Lauren Weber & Rachel Shteir

Lauren Weber, author of IN CHEAP WE TRUST, was formerly a staff reporter at Reuters and Newsday. She has also written for the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and other publications. Lauren graduated from Wesleyan University and was a Knight-Bagehot fellow at Columbia University. She lives (cheaply) in New York City.

Rachel Shteir, author of NATION OF THIEVES, is Associate Professor in the BFA program in Criticism and Dramaturgy at the Theatre School at DePaul University, which she directed until 2005. Before going to Chicago to found the program in 2000, she taught at universities including Yale, Carnegie Mellon University, NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, the Oscar Hammerstein School at Columbia University, and the National Theatre Institute. Rachel is the author of Striptease: the Untold History of the Girlie Show (OUP, 2004) and the forthcoming Gypsy: the Art of the Tease (YUP, 2009) and Nation of Thieves (2010).
