KGB Nonfiction presents the anthology Going Hungry: Writers on Desire, Self-Denial, and Overcoming Anorexia with readings by Priscilla Becker, Maura Kelly, and Latria Graham, along with editor Kate Taylor
About the book:
Here, collected for the first time, 19 writers describe their eating disorders from the distance of recovery, exposing as never before the anorexic’s self-enclosed world. Taking up issues including depression, genetics, sexuality, sports, religion, fashion and family, the essays examine the role that anorexia plays in a young person’s search for direction. Particularly helpful for parents, siblings, and friends, “Going Hungry” makes accessible the mindset of a disease that has long been misunderstood.
Maura Kelly has published personal essays in The New York Observer, Glamour, Salon, The Washington Post, and other publications. A dating columnist for AM New York, she is working on a novel about a teenager who is losing her mind.
