Melanie Cope is a freelance writer and a world traveler. She has been on adventures in Hungary and Prague as well as in Cambodia and Mexico. But for the time being she resides in New York, where she is pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing at Hofstra University. Melanie enjoys writing fiction above all else, although you will find poetry and non-fiction in her ever evolving body of work. She is currently working on a YA Historical Fantasy and a novel length experimental piece. The authors she believes have had the most influence in her life and at times in her work are: Poe, C.S. Lewis, Hemingway, and Marion Zimmer Bradley. One of the things that brings her the most joy is to read her work to others, that, and an extra hot caramel mocha of course.

Sophie Herzing:
Born in a very small town called Saint Marys in Pennsylvania
Graduated from Lycoming College with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and Painting
Goes to Hofstra as an MFA Candidate in Poetry
Recently moved to Long Island and now lives in West Hempstead
Works at Abercrombie & Fitch as a keyholder

Deysi Aguilar is an Assistant Dean at Hofstra University and resides on Long Island. Born in ConcepciĆ³n, Paraguay, her family immigrated to the United States in 1997. Deysi is an MFA candidate at Hofstra concentrating in fiction. Her writing is heavily influenced by cultural family dynamics and sometimes includes Paraguayan folklore. Like many writers, Deysi is more coffee than human.

Kyle Barbeau is currently enrolled in the Hofstra University MFA program, working towards what he terms his “eventual masters degree,” (7 years and counting!) predominately focusing on fiction, though he’s dabbled in some non-fiction and playwriting as well.  His work has been published in “Lighted Courners,” the Mount St. Mary’s University literary journal and “River Run,” the literary journal at Dowling College (rest in peace!) In his non-writer life Kyle is the Chief of Staff at one of Long Island’s largest beer wholesale companies, and a nice cold beer or two almost always pops up in his writing, except for that time he took a foray into writing children’s literature!  Kyle is excited to be reading under the hot lights at the KGB.

Lily Vu is a Nonfiction MFA Candidate at Hofstra University. Her writing interests include immigrant and refugee adjustments and first-generation American experiences. She enjoys poetry, science fiction, and playing with hula hoops.
