KGB: Drunken Careening Writers

Johnna Adams received a Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association Citation for her play Gidion’s Knot. She is the recipient of the Princess Grace Award and a Finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award. Gidion’s Knot was published in American Theatre Magazine. The Contemporary American Theatre Festival premiered the play in Shepherdtown, WV, in summer of 2012. It has since been produced at many theatres in the US and abroad. Flux Theatre Ensemble (New York) produced her play Sans Merci, which was nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award for best play. Her play Skinless was developed at the MFA Playwrights’ Workshop at the Kennedy Center and read at Rattlestick (New York). Her play Lickspittles, Buttonholers, and Damned Pernicious Go-Betweens was produced by Impetuous Theatre. World Builders received its world premiere at the Contemporary American Theatre Festival in 2015. Her plays Angel Eaters, Rattlers, 8 Little Antichrists, Cockfighters and The Sacred Geometry of S&M Porn are published by Original Works Publishing (www.originalworksonline.com), Gidion’s Knot and Sans Merci are published by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. (www.dramatists.com).  She graduated from the DePaul University Theatre School with a BFA in Acting and Hunter College with an MFA in Playwriting.

Dan Meltz has published poems in American Poetry Review, Best New Poets 2012, Salamander, Mudfish, Talking Writing, upstreet, Temenos, Verse Wisconsin, and lots of other venues. He used to teach WordPerfect to the deaf and business skills to the blind. He’s now a technical writing manager at Google and lives in Manhattan between a nail salon and a beauty parlor.

K C Trommer is the author of the chapbook The Hasp Tongue (dancing girl press, 2014). A graduate of the MFA program at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, KC has been the recipient of an Academy of American Poets Prize and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her poem “Fear Not, Mary” won the 2015 Fugue Poetry Prize and she has been awarded fellowships from the Table 4 Writers Foundation, the Center for Book Arts, the Vermont Studio Center, the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and the Prague Summer Program. Her poems have appeared in Agni, The Antioch Review, Day One, Octopus,The Sycamore Review, Prairie Schooner, Poetry East and a number of other journals. Drunken! Careening! Writers! is a reading series with the following parameters: 1) good writers, who 2) read their work well, and 3) something in it makes people laugh (nervous laughter counts) and 15 minutes tops. Since 2004.
