KGB: Drunken Careening Writers

Gina Femia has written 31 full-length plays which include ALLOND(R)A (Winner: Leah Ryan Prize), We Are a Masterpiece (Winner: The Doric Wilson Award), The Mermaids’ Parade (Finalist, Princess Grace Award), REBELS TIL DEATH (Reading, Playwrights Horizons), Annie and the Fat Man (Honorable Mention, The Kilroys), For The Love Of (Center Theatre Group’s Block Party, Theatre of NOTE, Original Works Publishing), and The Violet Sisters (Great Plains Theatre Conference). She is the 2019 Writer-in-Residence with Spicy Witch Productions (The Virtuous Fall of the Girls from Our Lady of Sorrows) and is an Alum of EST Youngblood, Pipeline Theatre’s PlayLab and New Georges’ Audrey Residency (Accidental Burlesque). Gina is a current member of Page 73’s Interstate 73 and Project Y Writers’ Groups. She is a New Georges Affiliated Artist and a New York Madness Company Member, and has received residencies with Page73, Powerhouse, NTI at the O’Neill, SPACE on Ryder Farm, and Fresh Ground Pepper. She has been nominated for the Cherry Lane Theatre Mentor Project. MFA, Sarah Lawrence College (Lipkin Prize in Playwriting).

Mariah MacCarthy is a nonbinary creatrix and an award-winning writer, performer, and birth mother. They’ve written for BuzzFeed, Yes! magazine, LOOKmagazine, The Brooklyn Rail, and others. Their plays have been performed all over the world, and the New York Times called their immersive party play Mrs. Mayfield’s Fifth-Grade Class of ’93 20-Year Reunion“a lot of fun.” They live in Astoria with their cat, Sophie. Squad is their first novel.

Soraya Shalforoosh’s first collection of poetry, This Version of Earth was published by Barrow Street in November 2014. Soraya has been a featured poet in the Journal of the Academy of American Poets Emerging Poet Series, and has had poems and reviews in Black Earth Institute, Apogee Journal, Taos Journal, Barrow Street, Court Green, Lumina Journal, Skanky Possum, Marlboro Review, WSQ, Bomb Magazine, Tribes.org, etc. Soraya has her MFA in Creative Writing from the New School and as an undergraduate at Clark University, won first place in the Prentiss Cheney Hoyt Poetry award. Ms. Shalforoosh has been a guest poet at William Paterson University in NJ, Berkeley College in New York, San Jose State University and guest speaker at the American Embassy in Algeria. Soraya was a Poetry Fellow at the Frost Place in July, 2017. Soraya also guest stars as The Maid in the forthcoming Valley of the Dollscollaboration, Descent of the Dolls from David Trinidad, McCain, Conway.
