KGB: Drunken Careening Writers

Shawn Stewart Ruff is author of the novels GJS II (2016), Toss and Whirl and Pass (2010), Finlater (2008 winner of a Lambda Literary Award for Debut Fiction); and the novella One/10th (2013). He is also editor of the landmark anthology Go the Way Your Blood Beats (1996).

Laurie Stone is author most recently of My Life as an Animal, Stories (Triquarterly Books, Northwestern University Press, October 2016). She was a longtime writer for the Village Voice, theater critic for The Nation, and critic-at-large on Fresh Air. She won the Nona Balakian prize in excellence in criticism from the National Book Critics Circle and has published numerous stories in such publications as Fence, Open City, The Collagist,Threepenny Review, and Creative Nonfiction. In 2005, she participated in “Novel: An Installation,” writing a book and living in a house designed by architects Salazar/Davis in the Flux Factory’s gallery space.  She has frequently collaborated with composer Gordon Beeferman in text/music works. Their text/music piece “You, the Weather, a Wolf” was presented in the 2016 season of the St. Urbans concerts. She is at work on the fiction collection The Love of Strangers. Kathleen Warnock is the founder of Drunken! Careening! Writers! She is a playwright and editor. Her plays have been seen in NYC, regionally, in London and Dublin (both Ireland and Georgia). She is a Contributing Writer to Gay City News, and her articles and interviews have also been featured in The Dramatist, GO, ROCKRGRL, Metal Maidens, New Directions for Women and others. She is a member of The Dramatists Guild.

Drunken! Careening! Writers! is a reading series based on the proposition that all readings should be by: 1) Good Writers; 2) Who read their work well; 3) Something in it makes people laugh (nervous laughter counts.) Since 2004.
