Jon Pineda & Kundiman Fellows

May 13, 2018
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for an Evening of readings by author Jon Pineda and other Kundiman fellows.

Jon Pineda will be reading from his new novel Let’s No One Get Hurt (FSG)

Let’s No One Get Hurt is a gorgeous coming-of-age story addressing issues of race and class amidst a magical, Huck Finn–esque universe of community and exploration.
Pineda’s memoir, Sleep in Me, was a 2010 Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, and his novel, Apology, was the winner of the 2013 Milkweed National Fiction Prize. He is also the author of three poetry collections and teaches at Queens University of Charlotte and the University of Mary Washington. He lives in Fredericksburg, VA.

“Jon Pineda writes achingly beautifully, with such crystalline precision and intensity that I would follow him into any story he chooses to tell. Pearl is a character who is so real, so vulnerable and so earnest that she walked off the page and straight into my heart.”
—Lauren Groff, author of Fates and Furies

Sarah Gambito is the author of the poetry collections Delivered (Persea Books) and Matadora (Alice James Books). Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The Iowa Review, The Antioch Review, Denver Quarterly, The New Republic, Field, Quarterly West, Fence and other journals. She is Associate Professor of English / Director of Creative Writing at Fordham University and co-founder of Kundiman, a non-profit organization serving Asian American writers.

Joseph Legaspi is the author of the poetry collections Threshold (2017), Imago (2007), which won a Global Filipino Literary Award, and the chapbook Subways (2013). His honors and awards include a poetry fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts. With Sarah Gambito, Legaspi cofounded Kundiman, a non-profit organization serving Asian American writers.
