JOAN WICKERSHAM was born in New York City and grew up there and in Connecticut. She is the author of the novel The Paper Anniversary, and her fiction has appeared in magazines including Glimmer Train, Ploughshares, and Story, among other, and has also been published in The Best American Short Stories. She has published essays and reviews in Glamour, Yankee, and the Boston Globe, and she has contributed and read on-air essays for NPR’s “On Point” and “Morning Edition.” She has been awarded several fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, where she wrote much of her new book, The Suicide Index: Putting My Father’s Death in Order, which is a National Book Award Finalist in Nonfiction. NINA BURLEIGH is the author of four critically acclaimed nonfiction books, including Mirage: Napoleon’s Scientists and the Unveiling of Egypt; The Stranger and the Statesman; and A Very Private Woman: The Life and Unsolved Murder of Mary Meyer. She is a staff writer at People Magazine in New York covering human interest stories, and she has covered twenty years of local and national politics, law, crime, women’s issues, and her articles have appeared in Time, the Washington Post, New York Magazine, Details, the New York Observer, Elle, Huffingtonpost.com, and Salon, among others. She will be reading from her new book, Unholy Business: A True Tale of Faith greed and Forgery in the Holy Land, about Bible relic forgery, and the intriguing world of Biblical archaeology and collectors.

TERESE SVOBODA is the author of 10 books, and her writing has been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, Slate.com, Bomb, Lit, Columbia, Yale Review and The Paris Review. Her honors include an O. Henry for the short story, a nonfiction Pushcart Prize, and a translation National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship. She will be reading from her new book, Black Glasses Like Clark Kent: A GI’s Secret from Postwar Japan, winner of the Graywolf Nonfiction Prize.
